In the last few months my leader, Hon. Andrew Scheer, has been articulating his vision for Canada in a series of speeches covering key topics. It shapes how he, as a Prime Minister, would make decisions on these critical issues facing Canada. Below, I have summarized these “My Vision for Canada” key points.
Bruce Stanton, Conservative Candidate for Simcoe North
“Canada should be a country where no ambition is too big and
where no dream is out of reach. We should be a principled force for peace and freedom on the world stage, a disciplined and compassionate protector of the public purse here at home “
Hon. Andrew Scheer, Leader of Canada’s Conservatives.
On Foreign Policy and the Military – A STRONGER CANADA IN A TURBULENT WORLD
Canada will partner strategically to advance freedom while contributing to global peace and security in the decades ahead. We will renew our sovereignty with a reinvigorated national defence – so Canada will be both ready when called on and able to stand alone and stand strong with our allies in the defence of freedom, human rights and the rule of law.
On Energy and the Economy – LIMITED GOVERNMENT, LIMITLESS POTENTIAL
The fact is Canada has more than enough oil – not only to displace imports from rogue states – but to put an end to all foreign oil imports once and for all. That is part of Andrew’s vision: Canada fueled exclusively by Canadians by 2030. We will balance the budget responsibly, leaving Canadians with more money in their pockets, and set the stage for Canada to be a country where big things can be built once again.
On Confederation – A CLOSER AND FREER CONFEDERATION
We will undertake a government-wide effort to remove the interprovincial trade barriers that have held back our federation for so long and negotiate a new Interprovincial Free Trade Agreement. These barriers make it more expensive to run a business; they hurt consumers with higher prices and less competition, and frustrate working professionals.
On Immigration – UNITY IN DIVERSITY
As Prime Minister, Andrew Scheer will put an end to illegal border crossings at unofficial points of entry that allows some people to skip the line and avoid the queue. We will work to immediately restore fairness, order, and compassion in our immigration system and do more to promote private sponsorships of refugees.
On Environment – A REAL PLAN TO PROTECT OUR ENVIRONMENT
Our plan strikes a balance between the need for Canada to combat climate change by reducing global emissions; and our core promise of leaving more money in the pockets of Canadians and letting them get ahead. We will focus on green technology, not taxes. Canadians will be eligible to receive a 20% refundable credit on their income tax for green improvements to their homes. A cleaner and greener natural environment. We will reinstate funding for wetlands, watersheds, and fisheries conservation. We will protect our waterways against wastewater dumping. And most importantly, taking the climate change fight global. Greenhouse gas emissions do not recognize borders. Our plan starts by exporting our environmental excellence to help reduce the emissions of the world’s biggest contributors.
