Leona Alleslev is the Member of Parliament (MP) for Aurora—Oak Ridges—Richmond Hill. Leona is a former Canadian Air Force Officer, Senior Manager, and entrepreneur. After being elected in 2015, Leona was appointed as Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Public Services and Procurement. Leona later served on the National Defence Committee and the Citizenship and Immigration Committee.

In September 2018, after careful and deliberate consideration, Leona made the hard decision to cross the floor of the House of Commons to take her seat among Her Majesty’s Loyal Opposition. “My constituents have voiced their concern to me that the current government appears to be increasingly out of touch with what’s going on in Canada and the world, and not responding appropriately. As such, my decision to cross the floor is a result of the culmination of numerous policy shifts and government actions which, taken together, convinced me that our country is at risk of being tragically off course.”(Leona Alleslev Sept. 24, 2018)

Leona currently serves as Conservative Shadow Cabinet Minister for Global Security, is a member on the Foreign Affairs and International Development Committee, as well as a member of the Canadian NATO Parliamentary Association.  Her experience as a RCAF Captain (Ret’d), executive within the Canadian aerospace industry and now as a Conservative team member, gives her powerful insights into Canada’s defence future and sovereignty.
